Culture Starved Magazine
Bola designed the website and brand assets for Culture Starved magazine. The magazine needed a clean design that would appeal to rising artists that frequent the website.
“Culture Starved is more than a magazine about talented young artists using varied mediums to discuss their identities. It is a community. A community for young artists, writers, film-makers, photographers, bloggers, musicians and media trend-setters. We discover the “IT” artists during their humble beginnings, as well as discuss the works of successful cutting edge artists.”
Bola and Sam created this platform in 2011 to showcase artists that were creating great work but hadn’t been recognized in mainstream media. Culture Starved was able to feature the likes of Angela Simmons, Dante Basco, and Issa Rae. Culture Starved is dedicated to rising artists feeding the culture and has a track record to prove it. Culture Starved was on the cutting edge, with the first list of “Top Black Web Series” in addition to a 2013 “African Summer” campaign that featured rising African artists.
While Culture Starved is on a hiatus, it is still a source of pride as so much was accomplished by the two founders at a young age. There are plans to revive Culture Starved Magazine in the near future.
